Growing up in a less than perfect family, Katie is in for a real surprise when her boyfriend, Micah, invites her to his family's Christmas celebration. The celebration is a week of being tucked away from the world with a no technology rule from Grandma Dodie. When they arrive, Micah asks a tough question and Katie is shocked by his family's reaction.

Oh. My. Goodness. What a beautiful Christmas story. The story begins with such a twist, I found myself wondering how Katie could even agree to stay with a family she hadn't met before, especially since her answer was probably not the one the family was hoping for. But, the family showed no ill will towards her, they treated her no differently, they loved her, welcomed her, and made her feel a part of their family! What a great way to represent Christ!

There were also SO many great thought provoking instances throughout the book. "That a family with an old person in it is in possession of a jewel." I love that! The Binder family is such a beautiful family, never showing anger, full of love and laughter! I was completely caught up in the love of this family, especially towards Katie.

I was so touched by Katie's story as well. She was not brought up in a loving family, so for her, all the family interactions were completely new and different to her. Katie was so afraid of messing someone else up because of her past, that she sacrifices her own future.

"Now bless this food and the hands that prepared it, that we might serve You all our days, however many, however few. In the name of Jesus. Amen." What a beautiful prayer to our Father. The Binder family was a true reflection of Jesus as they loved each other, lifted each other up, made each other laugh, and supported each other in every way!

This was my second story by Cynthia Ruchti, and she has become one of my favorite authors! As I read this story, at first, it felt a little slow, and then before I knew it, I was almost done! I found myself about 25 pages from the end and thinking, "I'm not going to read more, if I don't read more, it won't end!" Ha! Beautiful! Loved the Binder family and didn't want to leave them! A perfect story for the Christmas season!
